DIY Video Challenge 2024

We live in a time of CHANGE and UNCERTAINTY. But we did not just fall out of the coconut tree. We are here, but can we imagine a future, unburdened by what has been? Can we imagine a world without oppression?

Building a world without oppression might involve addressing existing relationships of oppressions, and it might involve a radical imagination of what could be, but has not yet taken shape. Your DIY project can address this challenge in numerous ways.

This DIY Challenge is set to the tunes in this playlist  and inspired by the sci-fi Afrofuturism of Octavia Butler’s Earthseed trilogy in Parable of the Sower

The DIY Challenge asks you to create a 1-3 minute video that expresses your response to the Afrofuturistic hope for a world without oppression for you, your family, your community, and others like you.  Use your phone and make your voice heard.  Submit a (Youtube or Vimeo) video link to iCamp.WCU@gmail.com by Saturday morning, July 27@ 9:00 AM.

All submissions will be reviewed by our Jury with awards and prizes in FIVE CATEGORIES

  • OVERALL BEST
  • MOST CREATIVE
  • BEST PRODUCTION
  • MOST PHILLY
  • MOST RADICAL
